This event will be held Wednesday, September 27th from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Snowden Training Center. Participants will receive 2.0 general CLE credits and 1.0 ethics CLE credit. The cost is $10.00.
Poverty simulations educate everyone-from justice professionals to community leaders-about the daily reality of life with a shortage of money and an abundance of stress as a way to promote understanding and help reduce poverty.
The program is a guided, live action experience divided into four 15 minute sessions that each represent one week for a month where participants:
- Navigate complex/time consuming public agencies, community organizations, and service providers
- Try to make ends meet by paying bills, buying groceries, and getting to work
- Care for children by getting them to school/day care and keeping them out of trouble.
A facilitated debrief discussion follows the simulation to discuss participants' experiences and ways to get involved.
