AAWL will be hosting its annual ethics event this December 12th from 4-6 pm. We hope you will join us for what promises to be a an engaging discussion on the ethics of changing employment by panelists Dana Fabe, Phil Shanahan, and Jahna Lindemuth.

Despite the fact that many attorneys are routinely exposed to the highly traumatic experiences of our clients, not much attention is paid to the toll of secondary traumatic stress on our profession. Other workplace stressors, such as heavy caseloads and lack of support, can combine to make the strain even worse. We will discuss support strategies from both an individual and organizational perspective, to help guard against, and heal from, the effects of secondary trauma and toxic stress.

About our guest: Amy Wood, Psy.D., is a Maine-based psychologist specializing in attorney wellness. She recently presented a CLE for the Alaska Bar Association on overcoming burnout. Her upcoming book, Lawyer Like an Athlete, will be published by the ABA in 2024.
